Marriage License

To get married in Hawaii, you will need to obtain a marriage license from the State of Hawaii. You can start the process of getting your marriage license online at: https://marriage.ehawaii.gov . There’s a tab at the upper left that says Couples. Just run your cursor over it and there will be a drop-down menu that says “apply for license.” Click on it and just follow the prompts from there.

Then, you will need to complete the application in person with a marriage license agent. It’s a fairly simple process. Sherilynn Takushi is a Maui agent. Call her at 808-276-6919 or go to her website to make an appointment when you know your schedule. The license will be good for 30 days from issuance so you will want to meet with Sherilynn within the 30-day window before your marriage date.

If you are planning your own wedding, choose an officiant, a photographer, possibly a musician(s), and a flower source. Rev Joe is more than happy to give you referrals for photos, flowers and musicians. If you are planning a beach wedding, Rev Joe is registered to obtain the beach access permit for you as required by the State and he routinely includes the photographer and any musicians on the permit.
